Crypto casino security: how do you know your private key is actually safe

so i'm on a few of these crypto sites lately, mostly sticking to blackjack but trying some slots too. thing is, i never really know if my private key is really just mine when i'm using their built-in wallet stuff. like, it says it's non-custodial, but how can i be sure it's not stored somewhere else or that they’re not logging every move? i know best practice is using my own wallet but then some places block you or make it annoying for payouts.

i keep reading about hardware wallets and cold storage, but that feels like overkill for grinding small hands every night. anyone else here just trust the built-in ones, or am i being too trusting? any weird stories or red flags i should look for?

sometimes i’ll let built-in wallets ride for streaky live dealer sessions, but only when i know i can cash out quick. once, after a decent blackjack win, i waited twelve hours just to confirm withdrawal wasn’t being throttled or flagged. for small stakes it’s easy to get lulled, but every delay feels like a tell. my go-to move now is keep screenshots of every transaction and balance update, so if things get squirrelly, at least i have a paper trail to badger support. sounds tedious, but it’s saved me twice from “glitches” where chips vanished after site lag. small edge but worth it.

tracking your own “paper trail” works, but i wish these sites would build real audit logs you can pull up any time. ever run into support just shrugging if their bot thinks your balance changed for “security”? it always bugs me how little they disclose about who actually controls what when you win more than pocket change. not sure if it’s just casino culture or a tactic.

built-in wallets always make me twitchy, since there’s just no real way to audit where that key lives or if they’re sniffing your seeds under the hood. i grind with the in-site wallet only if it’s mirax, and even then, i treat it like chips at a poker table, just enough for tonight, the rest back to my own cold wallet after the session. weirdest story i’ve seen was funds stuck for a month because site “maintenance” locked their whole wallet system. so for bonus chasing and regular action, site wallets are a necessary evil, but i never park my bankroll there.
