Live dealer deck handling: why does this skill vary so much

been bouncing around different live tables lately and it's wild how some dealers handle the decks. like, some are lightning smooth and barely even glance down, while others look nervous and have awkward shuffles or card placements. i notice it more on blackjack, but even on live poker tables, sometimes the dealing speed or evenness feels off.

makes me wonder how much of it is training and how much just comes down to the person's experience or nerves. you'd think there'd be more consistency since it's all on camera and, in theory, they're being monitored for fairness. anyone else notice stuff like sloppy burns, awkward hesitation or flashing cards now and then? is this something that actually affects outcomes long term, or just a tiny bit of “house flavor”? if you got stories or tricks for spotting the sharpest hands at the tables, would love to hear about it.

What jumps out to me is how dealer rhythm can really mess with your focus if you’re trying to manage your bankroll across sessions. If a dealer fumbles or hesitates, my risk radar pings and I start second-guessing my bet sizes instead of sticking to my plan. Sometimes those “off” tables turn into an accidental loss chase. My go-to is actually just leaving the table for a fresh shoe or hopping between sites like NetBet when the pace is off or the video lags. Keeping cool and not letting their nerves affect my own is the trick that’s saved me the most over time.

In roulette, you see the same thing with dealers handling the ball and wheel, but card games like blackjack make skill gaps way more obvious. Slick hands keep the pace and trust up. If someone flashes cards or stalls, I get twitchy and usually bail to another table. Makes the whole experience feel less legit even if the odds don’t really shift. Multi-camera setups help but not every site does it well. For me, a confident shuffle is like spotting a tight wheel spin - worth sticking around.
