Bubble fold too nitty?

yeah i get why the bubble fold is considered standard, protecting your stack and making the money is the whole point in tournaments. the logic behind folding even decent hands when you’re a couple spots away from cash makes sense if you want to grind out a return. if you’re short or average stack and someone shoves, people will call you crazy for risking it unless you’ve got monsters.

but the more i watch and the more i play, i start to wonder if people lean way too hard into this. feels like some folks get so tight on the bubble they leave chips on the table and end up with basically nothing to work with once it bursts. not saying hero calls are the answer, but isn’t there value in keeping up pressure instead of just waiting for pay jumps? like if everyone’s nitty, isn’t that the time to pick up blinds and antes? does bubble folding actually give up more than it protects long term?
