max bet changed

Saw something weird today - the max bet on one of my go-to slots got dropped by more than half. Used to be able to crank it up, now it’s way tighter. I know they switch stuff up for bonus rounds or jackpots, but this happened right after a bigger-than-usual hit last night. It wasn’t a network thing either, other games had the old limits.

Is this a normal move after a streak or did something trigger them to clamp down? I’ve always thought max bet limits were about game volatility, not how much someone just won or lost. Anyone see this before? Is there some pattern or should I just move on to a different slot?
