Book of Dead in 2026, nostalgia or still genuinely good?

I keep coming back to Book of Dead and im not sure if thats because its still one of the better slots or because I already know it and trust it more than newer ones. Im trying to decide what to put some play on this week and this is the one im hovering over again.

What puts me off is it can go very dead for a long stretch, then one free spins round makes the session. Ive had it sit there eating 100x and doing nothing, then another time one expanding symbol in the bonus paid back most of it. Thats the part im stuck on. How do you tell if this game is still worth playing now, or if its one people keep loading up out of habit because it used to be the default slot for a lot of us

I dont mean in a best slot ever way, just whether it still holds up if youre trying to play with some patience and not blast through a balance. I usually play small and wait for the bonus rather than jump stakes, but with this one im never sure if the base game is just too empty now compared to newer slots. The line hits look ok on paper but most of them are nothing unless the book lands right (or the explorer if you leave the old name in your head)

Does anyone still get solid value out of it in 2026, or is it more a name people respect because of what it was. If youre putting like 50 to 100 on slots and want something that can still produce a proper hit without just draining the lot first, is Book of Dead still one youd pick or not

Im not asking for a list of other games, just this one because im about to load it up again and cant tell if im being sensible or just familiar with it
