blackjack shoes feel weird

Every time I play blackjack at a table with a shoe, the whole game just feels a little off compared to hand-dealt single or double deck. Even shuffling looks less legit when it's mechanical, and I swear the game moves a bit too fast for my liking. Maybe it's just nostalgia talking or I’m more used to the slower, more personal pace of hand-dealt games. It feels like the shoe distances me from the cards somehow, and I second-guess my decisions more often.

I know the shoe is supposed to keep things running smooth and avoid card marking, but has anyone here noticed changes in how they play or their results? Do you prefer shoes or hand-dealt, and does it actually affect your edge, or is it all just in our heads?

Tbh the speed is the whole problem. Shoe blackjack turns into autopilot, same dead feel as a bad live casino lobby. In poker at least the rhythm tells you something.
