shoe burned cards weird

So I noticed something odd at my local spot last night. Dealer burns three cards at the start of the shoe, not just one. Then it’s back to normal dealing. It’s not the first time I’ve seen this there, but no one ever gives a straight answer about why they do it. Some people at my table shrugged like it was standard, but everywhere else I play it’s always one card burned, then off you go. Sort of bugs me because I try to keep a general count for the first few decks, just for rhythm, and three burned seems like it messes with flow more than people think. Anyone else run into this, or maybe worked out if it changes anything math-wise over time?

Is this a thing in other places, or just a random quirk of this casino?

Seen it once in Atlantic City blackjack, dumb room quirk.

three burns sounds less like some deep blackjack thing and more like pit nonsense they never bother explaining. did that room also have some dumb promo running that night, match play or hot seat stuff?
