Sticky bonuses: why would anyone accept a bonus you can't withdraw

can someone explain the angle on these sticky bonuses where your bonus cash vanishes at withdrawal? i’ve played plenty of promos over the years but the sticky thing always felt like a trap. i get the theory that you can play with a bigger bankroll, but if the extra funds aren’t yours to keep, isn’t it just a leash? maybe it stretches the playtime or keeps you in games longer, but i don’t see how that really pays off unless you’re on a crazy heater. usually i’d rather just ride out my own funds and keep any win straight up.

tried talking this over with a buddy who swears sticky is worth it for slots, says it’s all about building a bankroll for bigger bets, but i’m skeptical. i’ve hit a few good runs and watching the bonus part evaporate at the end just stings. is there something i’m missing strategy-wise here or is it just chasing a mirage for most folks?

If you think like a blackjack player, sticky bonuses can mess with risk management since you might take swings you normally wouldn’t, just to chase a payout you can't actually bank. Ever try treating the bonus as gone from the start and just playing your base funds to see if your approach changes?

sticky bonuses mostly let you swing bigger but with zero real upside if you crush it, so for most roulette or crypto casino players it’s just extra leash, not freedom. unless you’re gunning for max spins over max cash, there’s not much edge to chase here.
