do live dealer games have better odds or same as normal ones

Whenever I play blackjack on live dealer compared to the standard RNG ones, I get the feeling that the odds shift a bit - like the pacing changes, and maybe even the shuffling methods make some kind of difference? With the RNG games, it’s basically a fresh shuffle every hand, but live dealer seems to actually use a physical shoe, and sometimes you can see them change out decks. I try to keep my blackjack strategy tight either way but sometimes wonder if it really matters or if it’s mostly psychological.

Same thing with live roulette - there’s that whole ritual of spinning the wheel, watching the croupier, etc, and I swear my win streaks go on longer there than with virtual roulette. Might just be confirmation bias, but still. Has anyone dug into stats or real numbers on this? Been trying to recalibrate the way I play but it’s hard to tell what’s actually shifting the odds, or if it’s all in my head.

You’re not wrong to notice the vibe shift when swapping from RNG blackjack to live dealer, but in terms of pure odds, they’re pretty close - both are built to stick near the standard house edge if you’re playing optimal basic strategy. That said, live dealer does use actual shoes, so theoretically you could track the cards if they let the shoe run deep, but most sites shuffle pretty frequently or use continuous shufflers, which kills real card counting.

If you want a single move to try, watch how often decks get swapped out. When promos roll through on live tables, I’ll chase those instead, since the odds edge is tiny but the bonus EV can be real.
