why do some poker nights feel completely rigged

Been playing cards for years, mostly at home games and some local spots. Lately, I've noticed a weird pattern, same few folks just keep pulling monster hands, session after session. Not talking about solid players grinding out value, I mean absolutely insane luck, like four sets in a row or crazy river suckouts way too often. A couple regulars even seem to know what’s coming before it hits.

I get that variance can be wild, but something feels off when it’s always the same guys making bank and nobody else is catching a break. Not saying cheating for sure, but the vibe is starting to mess with my head. Anyone else run into this at their usual poker night? Genuinely wondering if I should walk or stick around.

Yeah. Same two guys "running hot" every session usually means marked cards or a soft deal. Any phones out, or one guy always shuffling?

One guy always shuffling is enough for me to bounce.

Eh, "always the same guys" happens more than people think. In Blackjack too, streaks get loud!!!

blackjacks not the same thing though, roulette streaks get loud too, same faces winning every session is a diff smell tbh

Blackjack streaks aren't proof of much, sure, but a home poker night isn't a shoe game either. If the same two people keep dragging pots for weeks while getting real chatty on every deal, I quit arguing with variance and leave.

Live dealer ≠ home game, lol

Nah, blackjack streak chat isn’t the tell for me, but I kinda get it. When a home game starts feeling like roulette with extra smug commentary and the same lads magically comfy every session, I’m out lol. That vibe gets old real quick, real quick 😅

If the same guy shuffles and the same guys spike, I sit that circus out.
