why some poker games have crazy spread limits nobody wants

I’ve noticed in a few poker rooms lately they’re spreading these bizarre $1-$100 or $2-$200 limit games. Not like no limit or a proper fixed limit, just wide open spreads that make almost zero sense for table dynamics. It’s always empty or gets some crusty regulars bumhunting short stacks. The vibe gets weird since half the table tries to limp in cheap, then you have someone jamming max the second they hit top pair. It just never seems to flow like normal action, and honestly, most people don’t look like they're having a good time.

Is there some logic for casinos even running these weird limit structures? Does anybody actually prefer these spread limits over something more consistent, or is it just a failed experiment? I always thought consistent betting made the game better for both regulars and people just getting started. What am I missing here, or is it as pointless as it seems?
