Racetrack repeats bad?

I've been seeing a lot of people at the table acting like those racetrack bets, especially repeats, are just setting themselves up for failure. Whenever a number hits and someone throws a chip on the same section, there's always that person mumbling about "lightning never striking twice" or "should've switched sections." Made me wonder if folks here actually believe the odds are different for repeats or if it's just table superstition.

Every spin feels fresh to me, no matter what happened before. I get that some like to play "hot" sections thinking there's a pattern but I don't really see that trend play out consistently over the long run. Noticing some players track every last hit on a notepad, making these elaborate racetrack layouts and still grumble when a repeat doesn't land. Seems like more of a ritual than a system. Wondering if anyone's actually tested out long runs just backing repeats. Might be worth a little experiment, or maybe I'm missing something about streaks that others pick up on.

Curious if you folks play those repeats or change it up every time.
