why are some slot machines way more satisfying to play than others?

some slots just hit different, right? like, i’ll spin a few and one will have these little features or a sound effect that makes it way more fun, even if i’m not really winning more. it’s not always about the theme or the graphics either. some of the older, simpler ones are way more satisfying for me than the big flashy ones with tons of animations.
