why do old slots sometimes feel better than new ones

not sure if it’s just nostalgia but every time i see a really old slot in the corner of a place, i get more excited than the shiny new ones. maybe it’s just the sounds and how basic the gameplay is. none of those 500 bonus rounds or spinning side wheels, just spin and hope for bars or sevens. the payouts always felt more real too, less confusing animations telling you you “won” fifty cents.

maybe it’s just me getting cranky, but does anyone else feel like newer slots try too hard and lose some of the fun? or is there an actual reason old ones feel “better”?
