why do slot machines seem to know when you're about to quit

I swear, there’s something about hitting a cold streak on slots, then suddenly getting a mini-win right when I’m thinking of pulling the plug. Like, I’ll have my cursor hovering on “leave” and out pops a bonus or a few spins that keep me there. Feels too perfectly timed sometimes. I know it’s all supposed to be random, but man, it really plays into the whole “just one more spin” mindset.

Never had much luck with chasing those streaks, though. Every time I try to hang on after that little win, it usually just eats the rest of my balance. Curious if others notice the same thing - do you think there’s something coded in to keep us hooked, or are we just wired to remember those moments more?

I get that feeling a lot, but it's way more likely our brains just cling to those perfectly timed hits. Roulette has the same effect - big moments right as you think of stopping. Next time, set a strict credit balance limit before you spin.
