Live delay on tennis?

yeah so i get the argument for live delay on tennis, makes sense for the books since people courtside could easily snipe a point or even a double fault before the sites catch up. like, you can watch a stream and it’s always a few seconds behind real life, so the house needs a cushion.

but here’s the part i never get - sometimes the delay feels way too long. i’ve seen 7 seconds, 12 seconds, even longer on some matches. unless you’re literally betting at the stadium with a laptop on your lap, seems like overkill. plus, crypto sites should be able to speed things up since it’s all digital, but nope, sometimes even slower. what’s the deal? are they worried about bots or is it just lazy tech?

anyone have insight into how they set these delays and if it actually helps stop courtsiding or just kills any edge for us?

12 seconds is basically a folded hand in live Poker terms, ngl. If the point ends in 4-6 sec and your slip wakes up at 12, the market’s already dead imo

Yeah bots matter a little, sure, but most of those dumb long delays are promo protection same as anything else, live boosts and “risk-free” crap get way less hittable if they make you sit there. I've watched a good even-money spot turn into trash before the slip wakes up, that's the point really

Yeah, 12 seconds is basically “don’t bother” territory lol. Same reason live Poker apps insta-fold you if you blink: they’d rather nuke legit timing than let one courtside nerd or bot scrape a 1-point edge, lmao.

It’s not always them “nuking” timing, some of that 12 sec junk is low-tier feed confidence on Challenger stuff, not just one courtside guy. I’ve seen ATP markets sit 5-7, then random ITF goes 10+ because the trader feed is slower than the point 😑

12 seconds just means they want you staking blind, and i’m not funding that cushion. On scruffy itf stuff i’ve seen the next-game line come back 15 cents worse after one serve. Same bin as live dealer faff for me.

On Gamdom, even a small delay can feel noticeable when you're watching live action. A 12-second gap might sound minor, but timing matters when the feed isn't fully synced.
