Value betting vs picking winners, two completely different hobbies?

Been trying to bet on price instead of just who I think wins and its turning into a different hobby for me.

Last 2 weekends I took a few dogs at plus money, went 1-4, and the one straight winner I liked I left alone.

Tried tracking CLV and all that, still annoying when the ticket just dies anyway
