why do some blackjack games have different payout ratios

Noticed lately some tables are offering 6,5 for blackjack instead of the old 3,2. At first I thought it was just a weird typo, but seems like more casinos are doing it both online and in person. Kinda threw me off when I realized my payouts looked a little light after a long session. I get that casinos wanna make money, but these new payouts definitely mess with your long-term odds.

I’ve also run into some places offering different side bets or bonus payouts and honestly not sure how to compare all this stuff, especially when switching between tables. Is there a reason some places keep the 3,2 while others switch? Do players really fall for the lower payouts that often? Curious if anyone’s found a table that actually feels “fair” lately or are we stuck with this trend?

Those 6,5 payouts are a sneaky way for casinos to claw back more of your edge without most folks noticing right away. You’re right, the shift from 3,2 to 6,5 really cuts into your long-term value. Quick poker analogy here, it’s like the house silently upping the rake at your favorite cash game. Most players either don’t realize or assume one table’s the same as another, so casinos slip it in. I’ve spotted more “bonus bet” tables too, and they sound tempting, but the math rarely favors the player. I mostly hunt for classic 3,2 and avoid 6,5 entirely, even if it means skipping a session. If you ever find a fair table, it’s worth flagging it here for the rest of us.

Always wild how blackjack morphs depending on the floor you land on, but roulette’s the same story if you look at things like single zero versus double zero. Ever actually spotted a casino that gives you a “real” choice - both 3,2 and 6,5 on the same floor? Or are we just chasing unicorns at this point?

What keeps me in the game are spots like Evolution’s “Free Bet Blackjack” online, where you skip betting your doubles and splits but can still hit 3,2 payouts if you read the fine print. It’s rare, but if you dig through the lobbies sometimes you find one tucked behind the side bet spam. Funny how most folks blow their budget on a flashy side game instead of tracking actual payout rates.
