Side bet variance brutal

been doing a deep dive on blackjack side bets lately and honestly the swings are wild. one minute you hit two big suited trips and feel like a genius, next hundred hands you’re just feeding the pit. i know variance is king with these, but it feels worse than spinning a slot sometimes. i keep running the math but can’t convince myself there’s any strategy beyond flat betting if you’re going for these at all.

does anyone here just stick to the main game to keep variance in check, or do you work these in on certain shoe counts or seat positions? i’m still on the fence but kind of addicted to chasing those weird payouts.

Seat talk is mostly noise to me, but yeah, side bets are pure bankroll sandpaper!!! I stick to the main game and treat the rest like chasing inside straights in poker, cute till it isn’t

Inside straights is generous. Side bets feel more like roulette outside bets with worse manners

Side bets are definitely where the swings get nasty. Gamdom or any blackjack table, I’d stick mostly to the main game and treat side bets as entertainment money, not something to chase after a cold streak.

Nah, the seat position/shoe-count angle gets way too much credit lol. On most blackjack side bets the count barely moves a rotten edge, meanwhile plain Basic Strategy on the main game does more for your bankroll than all that side-bet fiddling ever will!!! I just stick to the hand that actually matters lmao

I quit side bets on Live Dealer the second I caught myself convincing myself seat 3 was magic, like a complete idiot!!! Didnt matter if it was a continuous shuffler or not, I was just buying nastier swings for no good reason, main game only now, boring but better.

Count only matters if you’ve got an ACTUAL trigger, otherwise it’s the same daft itch as live sports betting lads forcing a bet lol. What true count makes you fire on perfect pairs, +4 or you waiting higher?

I chased side bet promos on Atlantic City blackjack, dumb mistake. Count maybe, seat no, I keep to the main hand now MOSTLY
