double down rejected

Got a weird one last night. I had an 11 against a dealer’s 6 and tried to double down, but the dealer said no. I wasn’t over max bet or anything, just got rejected. The pit boss said their house rules changed and now you can’t double after splitting, which, fine, but I hadn’t split at all. Didn’t even know some places mess with doubles on non-split hands.

Anyone else run into stricter double rules lately? Starting to think roulette’s at least more up front with its odds - blackjack tables just seem to get sneakier with these tweaks.

11 vs 6 is the part that got me, that's a STANDARD double anywhere halfway serious, not a split thing

I've seen tables that only allow doubling on certain totals, but 11 against a 6 is usually one of the most standard doubles. That sounds odd.

What gets me is theyll bury a rule change in six point print like its a state secret, then act shocked when you notice mid-hand. I missed one of those once because I was drifting over from the slots, half cooked, and yeah, still annoys me more than it should.
