Blackjack side bets
Hey, I cut out the side bets on blackjack the last few times I played online and my balance lasted way longer than when I was adding them in every hand.
I knew they were higher house edge, but I didn't think it was making that much difference till I stopped. Same stakes on the main hand, just no 21+3, perfect pairs, any of that, and I wasn't doing the usual fast drop where you look up and half the deposit is gone.
Now I'm wondering if anyone else noticed the same that clearly, or if I was just overplaying them before without really clocking it. Is there any side bet in blackjack that people here think is worth touching at all, or are they all just bankroll drain unless you hit something early.
What do most of you do with them on live dealer tables, just ignore them completely or only use them once in a while? I used to throw them on because it made the session more interesting (and because the payouts look good sitting there), but when I left them alone the game was a lot steadier.
I'm not asking from a one off bad run either. It was enough sessions for me to notice the pattern and it wasn't close. The main game still swings, obviously, but it didn't have that extra leak on top every few hands. It made me think I was giving away a decent chunk just for the chance at a flashy hit.
Also is there anywhere on the actual tables or rules screen where they show the proper edge for each side bet, because I don't always see it spelled out and some of them seem worse than others but not by how much I thought
payouts looking good sitting there is the whole pitch. it's decoration with a house edge.
