Live dealer side bets: worth the house edge or complete trap

Been sticking to the basics for most live dealer games but lately I’ve noticed a ton of people throwing bets on all these weird side options, like perfect pairs or those fancy 21+3 things at the blackjack tables. The payouts look sweet when you scroll through them but every time I’ve tracked my results on the side, I can feel the losses sneaking up faster than anything from the main game.

Feels like I get hit with decent runs now and then but long-term it’s a money pit. Maybe I’m just not seeing the bigger angle here though - does anyone actually work side bets into their bankroll and come out ahead over a serious sample?
