Anyone actually counting cards online or is that pointless?

Seems like every other week, someone asks about counting cards in online blackjack. Honestly, I don't really get how folks think that's even workable unless they're talking about the live dealer tables with actual cards, not just RNG games. I keep seeing mixed opinions. Some claim they can track the shoe, but my math brain tells me the constant shuffling and auto-decks just kill any edge you might hope for. Maybe some live tables aren't shuffling after every round, but I have yet to see a place that doesn't mess with the shoe way more than you'd see in a real casino.

Still, I'm curious if anyone here has actually found a consistent way to get a slight advantage, at least enough to make card counting worth the time online. Does anyone have a strategy for this or is it really just a waste trying to count cards unless you’re sitting at a physical table?

Unless you’re scouting for rare human dealer missteps on camera, I’d treat it like sunk cost. Ever notice if table chat gets quiet right before a reshuffle?

i’m fully on team “waste of time” for counting cards online unless it’s live dealer with very clear penetration and no constant reshuffling, but have you ever tested the promo hunt angle instead, like targeting bonuses during low variance runs on european blackjack?

Promo hunts have their moments, but long term you’re just shifting the grind. I lean heavier on bankroll management whether I’m chasing sportsbook edges or casino promos. In sports betting, strict staking plans have kept me in the game years longer than any system or single bonus.

One stat for the thread, even with perfect blackjack play, the house edge is never truly zero online. Anyone swearing by consistent “edges” is usually selling you something. Who here actually tracks every session to the penny?
