no deposit offer asking for card

so i ran into another no deposit promo last night and it wants me to add my card info just to "confirm identity". i don't get why they need that for a free bonus? not a fan of giving up my card unless there's a really good reason, feels sketchy even if they say they won't charge unless i deposit. i get sometimes they need to weed out multi-account stuff but still, crypto sites never ask for this.

i mean if i was dropping real money it’d be different, but it’s literally supposed to be free play. am i just being too cautious or is it smarter to skip these and stick to the ones that let you sign up clean? any horror stories or is it just me overthinking it?
