do you guys even bother with promos or just play straight cash

I keep seeing debates on here about whether promos are worth it or just a sucker’s bait, but honestly, I always end up doing the math in my head like it's a probability tree. Sometimes I’ll bite on a bonus if the rollover isn’t ridiculous and I’ve got a plan to grind it with minimal variance games. Usually blackjack or certain video poker versions, though I still steer clear if the house edge balloons from promo restrictions. It’s funny how many promos look good at face value but become impossible to clear without risking most of your own stack.

Poker promos used to be better, but now half the time you need to multi-table for hours to even make a dent in the requirements. A couple of times I tried chasing the leaderboard bonuses, got close, and realized I lost edge compared to just playing my A-game. But then again, sometimes there’s overlay value if the site doesn’t fill up on a given promo. Anyone here try to game promos using probability models or just play straight cash and ignore the noise?

I’ll sometimes take a promo if the site limits max bet per hand, since that can stretch a tight bankroll further without ramping risk. Anyone here ever tracked how their win rate shifts when promo funds let them grind more volume on low edge markets?

with slots, promos can lure you into higher volatility cycles you’d skip otherwise, chasing multipliers instead of building any real streak data. ego trips me up every time i think i’m ‘beating’ the bonus, but it’s usually the promo winning.

If the promo math checks out, especially with low variance plays like full pay video poker, I’ll chase it, but most are just traps where the edge vanishes once you factor in hidden rules and time cost. Overlay in poker promos can still be worth a look, but only if you treat it like a value hunt not a guaranteed play.

i lean toward skipping promos now since most force you into risky patterns you’d never touch in roulette, where disciplined bankroll management is your real edge. have you ever tracked how chasing these deals changes your loss streak psychology versus just playing straight cash?
