Live dealer tipping: do dealers actually appreciate it or is it awkward

Tipping the live dealers online feels odd to me compared to brick and mortar. Like, is it actually going to the person or just into some weird company pool? Half the time the chat is dead or only filled with random spam, so you can't really tell if dealers care or notice. Sometimes I've tipped after a good run and the dealer sort of says "thanks" but it feels a bit forced, not like the vibe you get in person at a real table.

Curious how everyone handles this or if anyone's gotten a genuine response.

i've noticed the same, tipping online always feels disconnected, like tossing chips into a slot machine hoping for a reaction. last time i tried after a lucky roulette run, it just felt transactional. i only do it now if the dealer seems legit engaged, but if the chat’s dead or they look zoned out, i just skip it. in poker at least you can see tells, but with online live dealers you’re really just betting on the idea they’ll even notice.

sometimes it reminds me of those casino promos where the bonus terms are so unclear you just shrug and move on, keep your tip in play and treat it like any other side bet - if you can’t tell who actually wins, better to keep your chips in action elsewhere

Tipping in live dealer online can feel about as rewarding as parlaying props in a game with no live stats. Without feedback, I’d rather roll those chips into the next bet.

found it telling that bet365's live roulette makes it nearly impossible to track where tips go, especially with those locked balances. if a system clouds the flow, my default is to protect my own stake.

In live dealer poker rooms, I treat tipping a bit like adjusting my bet sizing after a heater - sometimes warranted, sometimes just wasted motion. I asked a supervisor once during a late-night session and got a vague line about "team appreciation," which told me enough. Unless I see a dealer actually react, like reading a unique chat message or calling out a player by name, I just keep the extra chips for my next session. Feels more disciplined that way, and discipline is saying no when the feedback loop is broken.

Tipping live dealers online mostly lands in a gray zone, especially if you’re used to the real-life table energy. Sometimes the tip does reach the actual dealer, but often it’s pooled or just absorbed by the platform, depending on their policies. I’ve tried it at Bet365 during a blackjack streak, got the same robotic “thank you” in the chat, and honestly, it broke the vibe for me. For now, I only tip if the dealer actually seems present and engaged, not just because I hit a big hand. If you’re chasing that human connection, live online setups rarely measure up to brick and mortar, and tipping is one area where the difference is glaring.
