Side bet payout cap?

Was playing some live blackjack this morning and actually hit a suited pair on the side bet, but the payout wasn’t what I expected. Dealer said there’s a max payout cap on side bets but I never really noticed that in the rules before. Is this just a thing with online live dealer games or do brick and mortar tables do this too? Makes me wonder if I should even bother with those side bets if they’re gonna cap my win right when the luck actually swings my way.

Anyone else run into this? I play with crypto mostly, and I know some sites are strict about limits for side bets. Curious if this is just normal everywhere or if I should look for tables with higher caps. Feels kind of off, since you’re putting up real risk every hand and then maybe can’t collect the full amount.
