loyalty points gone

noticed all my loyalty points dropped off my account after i took a break for a couple months. never read the fine print on these programs, always assume they’ll hang onto your balance at least for the year. i get taking back bonuses if an account is inactive forever, but wiping the whole balance this quick feels pretty rough, especially after putting in decent volume. curious if others have run into this, or found programs with less punishing expiration rules. feels like one more reason to log every policy somewhere, but i’m betting most folks don’t bother.
