Does casino game volatility matter?

I've seen the terms low volatility and high volatility when researching slots. What does volatility actually mean from a player's perspective, and should beginners pay attention to it when choosing games?

Lol yeah it matters, mostly for your head. High vol slots feel like sitting at blackjack with no Surrender button, just getting dragged through dumb dead spins waiting for one hero hit somebody else always seems to get before me lmao. RTP on paper is cute, session feel is the real kicker, shrug

Yeah it matters, mostly to your bankroll. High volatility just means longer dry spells for the same rtp, then one bigger hit if it comes. If you're new, i would not pick the sweatier option just to feel like poker variance sooo early
