does anyone actually calculate pot odds at the table
Honestly I always wonder this when I play live games. People act like everyone's got a calculator in their head doing math every hand, but the table is loud, the drinks are flowing, and the dealer keeps giving me the stink eye for asking about the pot size. Am I missing some secret handshake where folks just estimate and pretend they're being all mathematical about it? Or are they actually crunching numbers every single round? I can barely remember if I ordered tonic or soda half the time.
Most of my poker style is, well, more like my roulette bets. I do things pretty consistently so I’m not constantly chasing or second-guessing. But maybe I'm just lazy, cause figuring out odds on the fly is too much like actual work. I get wanting to have an edge, but with all the distractions at the casino, half the time it seems more like people just trust their gut and act like it’s all part of their master strategy.
Curious if I’m the only one who feels like the “pot odds” talk is a bit overhyped at actual tables.
