why do some poker positions win way more than others.

Seems like every time I’ve watched live poker or tried to figure out hand histories, the people in late position always rake in the chips. I get that you’re supposed to have an advantage acting last, but it almost looks like it’s not even close. Like people who get the button or near the end get free chips thrown their way compared to early spots. I label all the positions on my notes, but still forget what to do with them half the time.

When I play slots, it never matters where you sit, so this position thing makes me scratch my head. I usually prefer things where it’s not so much about what seat you get, but clearly in poker, folks have the odds swinging just from where they sit. Maybe I just don’t see the risk right. Curious how the numbers really break down, since it looks huge from what I see.

yeah i screwed this up for years, treated poker like slots. late position is skill, early is guessing, seat luck ain't the same thing!!!

I did the same dumb thing after too much time on online casinos, honestly. Got used to everything feeling provably fair and neat, then poker punished the autopilot. I still catch myself clicking through spots half asleep 🙄

Slots seat doesn't matter, sure. Roulette doesn't either. Poker does.

Nah, the part people miss is rake and the blinds, not just “acting last.” at low stakes live, sb and bb are basically paying rent every orbit, then the house skims more, so yeah those seats look like a blood donation center. Button looks amazing because it gets to play cleaner pots and avoid lighting money on fire with all the junk hands early spots should just muck. I used to track my sessions seat by seat and the dumbest leak was defending bb way too wide because “pot odds.” noooo. With live rake, a lot of those hands are just dead on arrival. That’s the distinction.
