Cash games

I’m thinking about moving over to cash games a lot more instead of putting most of my time into tournaments, just because I’m getting sick of long sessions where one bad spot wipes out the night and I’m stuck waiting forever for decent spots. With cash I like the idea of being able to sit down, play my game, and leave when the table turns to shit instead of being tied to it. What are the main adjustments you made when you started taking cash more seriously, especially with table selection and knowing when to rack up

Downswing

I pay attention to who’s on my left as much as the table itself. An aggressive player there can make opens I’m comfortable with feel awkward, since I’m reacting to them every hand (or just passing when I’d normally raise). I’ve got quicker about racking up too, if I catch myself calling out of habit and not because I want to be in the pot. I don’t have to sit there trying to win back what I lost. Once I’m on autopilot, I can just leave.

Cash games feel less draining when you can leave a bad table instead of waiting for a tournament to end. I keep the same patience with Gamdom.

Do you mean the loose players leaving?

I’ve racked up when the player splashing around cashes out and the table tightens up, you can feel it within a few hands. The pots shrink and nobody wants to play back at you. I used to think I could just sit and wait for premium spots, but a tight table can bleed your stack slowly while you wait, so I’ve ended up leaving even without losing a big pot or anything.
