European vs french roulette?

So I’ve been sticking mostly to blackjack and poker for my usual grind, but lately I keep running into debates about european roulette vs french roulette. I get that both use the single zero layout and have better odds than the double zero american version, but people act like french is some kind of holy grail. Outside of the la partage/en prison rules on even money bets, is there something else I’m missing that would really push it over the edge for actual value?

I know edge is everything in the long run, and I'm all about squeezing every percent. Does anyone actually switch tables or apps just because they see french rules? Or is it not that deep unless you’re playing super high volume? Curious what you all actually do when you see both options in the same lobby.

Yeah french gets talked up like it’s blackjack people sprinting across the pit over H17, and I’m a little annoyed they’re not wrong. If you’re actually grinding even-money stuff, I switch, if I’m playing voisins du zero or messing around it’s mostly the same wheel with fancier manners and a smaller edge tax
