European vs French roulette

Am I missing anything important between European and French roulette besides La Partage on even money bets?

Im looking at switching tables and from what I can see theyre both single zero, so the straight up payouts and the rest of it should be the same. Thats why im not seeing why people make such a big deal about French unless that rule is the whole edge.

I mainly play outside bets and a few splits, so thats where it matters for me
