racetrack layout confusing

anybody else get tripped up by the racetrack betting layout? i keep meaning to use it for neighbor bets and call bets but then my brain just kind of stalls out. like, i know it’s supposed to make things faster but i’m always second guessing if i picked the right section or if i’m missing something. the regular betting board makes sense to me, just not the circle with the numbers everywhere.

been watching some vids and trying to slow down, but i feel like every time i sit at a table i forget which side is supposed to be the “opposite” numbers. is it just a reps thing and you eventually memorize it or are there better tricks to not mix it up? i really want to use the fancy bets more but right now i keep defaulting back to straight up and splits.
