Street bet payout?

so i was at the table last night grinding blackjack per usual but all the noise was from roulette. bunch of folks started shouting about a street bet they just hit and everyone acted like they all just retired early. i know the basics but never pay attention to the side bets on roulette cause most of them feel like burning chips. but maybe i’m missing something here. if you hit a street bet, what’s the actual payout? is it worth giving up a few blackjack hands just to throw a chip on the street every now and then?

also side question for the people who mess with these - is there any real value to chasing those “table traditions” like betting streets, or is it just about the fun factor? my luck mostly runs on caffeine and skepticism, so i need the nudge before changing tables. what’s the best street hit you’ve seen and did it actually pay decent?
