american roulette online zero bets

Why does anyone play american roulette online when the 0 and 00 are right there? I was looking through roulette tables because i wanted to try a few spins and most of what showed up first was american, and i don't get who is choosing that on purpose. The extra zero just makes it worse straight away, so do i need to look for a different section to find the better tables, or are sites pushing american more for some reason? Has anyone seen online roulette where the american one pays anything different to make up for it (even a little), because from what i can tell it is just worse odds and that's it, unless i'm missing one rule somewhere

Yeah, mostly familiarity, and whatever the site sticks near the top. The house edge on standard American is 5.26%. Single-zero is 2.70%. Same usual payouts, so that extra pocket has nowhere to get made up. I don’t know of an American paytable that compensates for it. When I’m looking, I search for European or single-zero specifically. They can be buried under the other tables. The first few results aren’t necessarily the only roulette options there.

I picked an American table from the first results once, and the paytable was the standard one, no extra payout for that extra pocket. Could just be what the site puts in front of you. I can’t say they’re all doing it on purpose, but that’s what I saw.
