why do some slots have mini games that are worse than base game.

Noticing lately that some of these slot games throw in bonus rounds or mini games that honestly seem to pay less than just spinning the reels. It doesn’t make much sense to me. You’d expect that getting a feature would at least match the average payout you’d get playing normally, but sometimes these “bonuses” feel like a forced time-waster or just a chance to give you a tiny return on high hopes.

It’s especially weird when it happens on crypto slots. I always thought bonus features were meant to add excitement or at least offer a shot at a bigger hit, but there’ve been a few times where I hit a feature, and all the excitement just drained out watching a string of nothing spins or picking random boxes that end up being a few cents. Wondering if it’s just me, or if there’s some logic or math to this I’m missing from the design side. Maybe some devs are just padding out volatility stats, but it feels misleading from a player’s standpoint. Curious what people are seeing.

Bonus round my foot, some of them pay like a flat tire. I’d rather skip it and play Live Dealer than watch dead spins.

Those pick a box bonuses are the worst for this, tiny capped prizes dressed up like a hit, I'd take plain reels over that any day

Live Dealer isn't some cure for this, that's the part people keep jumping to. A lot of slot features are just pacing tricks, free spins can still have teeth, it's those pick-a-box mini games with capped prizes that are usually the cheap part and people lump it all together

Not really. You’re assuming the feature is there to outpay base spins, and a lot of them just aren’t. The paytable usually shoves rtp into dead paylines and animation. Same reason i’ve drifted back to live dealer lately. Grim.

Lol yep, some bonus rounds are straight trash. I’d rather grind Blackjack than watch dead respins fake hype for 12 cents lmao

Nah, “bonus” doesn’t mean better payout lol. Same in blackjack side bets, flashy and usually worse!!!

its not just u buddy a lot of those mini games are basically ui more than game math. thats the part ppl miss. on a bunch of crypto slots the feature is just the rng result dressed up as a little box pick or wheel thing after the outcome is already decided, esp on the provably fair adjacent stuff. so when it feels worse than base game its bc ur sitting through a bad reveal instead of ripping thru spins in turbo mode and moving on. i hate the wheel of fortune style ones for this... half the time on mobile they lag or stutter and now ur annoyed and underpaid. live dealer is different at least the dead time is honest dead time, not fake agency with cartoon buttons buddy
