why do some slots have jackpots that never seem to hit

Some slots on here always advertise these huge jackpots but I never see anyone talking about actually winning them. Makes me wonder about the real odds or if the progressive ones just take ages before someone actually hits. I get that the house always wins in the long run, but some of these jackpot totals just keep climbing for what feels like forever.

I'm coming from poker where at least you know your edge or odds most of the time, but these slots are kind of a black box. Does anyone know if there are legit published odds on hitting these specific jackpots, or is it totally random and just based on play volume over time? Curious if anyone's actually seen a big one drop or knows more about how often they really hit.

Yeah, the thing people miss is the jackpot usually isn’t married to the regular symbol paylines at all, it’s its own buried trigger, so watching Blood Suckers or Dragon’s Fire spin forever tells you basically nothing. Blackjack shows its seams. These just hum and eat batteries.

Nah, my first dumb reaction is always “if there’s no clear RTP info and no posted jackpot odds, I treat it like a jar with a fake bottom, lol.” That’s the part that bugs me, not the climb. Some of these slots hide the only thing that matters, then slap a giant number on top and hope your lizard brain salutes. I’ve seen Alchemy sit there looking juicy forever, then a Live Dealer blackjack table next to it is at least honest about what game you’re playing. If a jackpot only opens up on max bet, say it in neon and stop being weird lmao.
