Jackpot seed question

so i’m not super slot-savvy but my neighbor claims some online jackpots grow based on the total money wagered until they “have to” pay out eventually, like a ticking time bomb but with less confetti and more regret. she’s convinced she can spot when one’s about to pop just by watching the jackpot meter creep higher. i mean, i get how roulette’s got fixed odds and all but slots always seem more like fishing in a storm than following a pattern.

do any of you actually track these “seeds” and base your bets around them? not asking for some magic formula, just wondering if the whole “due jackpot” thing is legit or another gambler’s tale. feels a bit like chasing the neighbor’s cat after she’s already jumped the fence, but maybe there’s something to it.
