bonus landed too late

Was spinning a new slot last night, pretty much burning through my deposit with nothing big happening. Then of course the bonus lands when I’ve got like 60 cents left, and it barely pays anything. Feels like such a common story and I don’t know if it’s just bad luck or something in the game design that keeps making these bonuses show up right after your bankroll is crushed. Happens to me a lot and it always feels suspicious even if I know the math says it’s random.

I try to stick to slots that are supposed to have a fair bonus frequency and decent return to player, but it still seems like I only ever get a feature when the stakes are lowest. Maybe it’s just confirmation bias, but I’d be interested in hearing if anyone else thinks some slots rinse you and then finally throw the bonus as a tease right at the end. Anyone got any strategies for pushing through cold streaks on these?
