bonus finally hit on last spin and paid absolute dust

Last night I finally triggered the bonus on this stubborn slot, right on the last spin before I ran out. My hopes were set to MAX, popcorn in hand, heart doing its thing, but the bonus round paid me like three coffee beans and a lint ball. Not even enough for gas station gum. I spent the entire round watching those reels pretend like they were about to connect for something big, then boom, nothing.

Is this just the standard these days? The bonuses seem to pop right when your balance is crying, but the payout is absolute dust.
