Paylines confusing?

Every time I try new slots with weird paylines like zigzags or clusters, I get thrown off. It’s not just the lines themselves - some games show them as highlights, others barely even explain where wins are coming from. I swear half the time, I win something and can’t even see what matched. Straight classic lines were so much easier to follow.

Is it just a matter of getting used to these new setups, or am I overthinking? Anyone else have strategies for figuring out if a game’s lines are worth the hassle?
