anyone actually win significant amounts on slots or is it all just house edge

ever since i started tracking my bets more seriously, i’ve noticed the big slot hits people post on socials just never line up with what i actually see in casinos. my roulette group talks about slots being just the slowest way to bleed cash unless you hit a legit jackpot. i know the house edge is baked in, but i’m wondering if anyone’s actually walked away way up, not just small wins that get fed back in.

i do a lot of poker too, and the variance there at least feels like it’s possible to grind out a profit with skill. slots just seem like rinse and repeat. maybe i’m missing some angle, or it’s just all highlight reels on social.
