I watch how much work a player is making the other one do on serve. If they’re getting to 30-all in three of the last four return games, that sticks with me more than one break point (assuming I’ve got the games straight). One point can come from all sorts of things, but getting into those longer service games a few times tells me the returner is actually making them work. I can still get caught staring at a single point, though.

Autoplay is right. Dead air kills it.
