racetrack layout confusing

anybody else get tripped up by the racetrack betting layout? i keep meaning to use it for neighbor bets and call bets but then my brain just kind of stalls out. like, i know it’s supposed to make things faster but i’m always second guessing if i picked the right section or if i’m missing something. the regular betting board makes sense to me, just not the circle with the numbers everywhere. been watching some vids and trying to slow down, but i feel like every time i sit at a table i forget which side is supposed to be the “opposite” numbers. is it just a reps thing and you eventually memorize it or are there better tricks to not mix it up? i really want to use the fancy bets more but right now i keep defaulting back to straight up and splits.

so last night at the home game, one of the guys kept sitting out right before his big blind. he’d just say he had to use the bathroom or check a work email or whatever, then jump back in after his blind passed. not everyone noticed but the few that did started getting annoyed, kinda threw off the whole table’s vibe. i know this gets stricter in online rooms, but what’s the deal for live games? is there like an “unspoken rule” about how many times it’s okay to sit out or skip your blinds? or is this just part of poker and you gotta deal with it? just feels weird, especially in a game that’s supposed to be friendly. do your games have any house rules about this kind of thing?
