Blackjack late surrender: does this actually help enough to matter

I keep seeing people mention late surrender like it's a hidden trick but I'm not sure how much it really impacts your results long-term. I get the math says it reduces the house edge a little, but we’re talking such tiny decimals I’m wondering if it actually shifts things much for normal folks or if it only matters for crazy high stakes or pros grinding hours and hours. My routine is usually flat betting, never chasing losses, so I don’t exactly push the envelope.

Has anyone here seriously tracked the difference over enough sessions to say it helped keep your bankroll alive longer or smoothed out the swings? I always feel like any edge is good, but late surrender sometimes seems like one of those things that sounds better on paper than when you’re actually sitting at the table. Would love to hear if it’s worth focusing on this rule or just sticking to solid basic strategy?

Late surrender saves you a bit on bad hands but it's more safety net than secret weapon. I track my blackjack sessions and it barely moves the needle unless you’re in long, grinding play or spreading big bets. For a flat bettor, solid basic strategy matters way more than hunting for this rule. Think of late surrender like insurance in sports betting, helpful but not a difference-maker.
