does anyone actually follow blackjack basic strategy perfectly

I keep seeing people say if you follow the charts exactly, you shrink the house edge as much as possible, but in real life, does anyone actually never mess up? I get trying to memorize all those weird doubles and splits, but as soon as I’ve got a few side bets out or I’m three gin and tonics in, I’m lucky to remember what I just bet, let alone if I’m supposed to hit on 16 against a face card. Plus, sometimes it just feels wrong to hit or stand when the chart says so, like pure superstition kicks in.

I see folks at the tables trying to look like pros but half the time someone’s gut feeling overrides the perfect play. Is this just me being paranoid, or does everyone kind of fudge the rules a little, even the hardcore strategy fans? I’m honestly convinced some people would split 10s just to make a scene.

Most people aren’t “fudging” basic strategy, they’re using the wrong chart for the rules and calling it instinct. Crypto casinos are bad for this, classic blackjack label on top, weird hit/stand tweaks underneath, then they still take insurance like it’s part of the system...

Yep. I drift once bonuses start rattling around my head at minimum bet tables!
