dealer peeking weird

Had something happen last night that threw me off a bit. Was sitting at a table and the dealer started doing this sort of slow, sideways peek under the ten card instead of the normal quick check for blackjack. At first, I thought I was overthinking it, but a couple others at the table were noticing too. Usually, they just snap it up with that mirror thing and it's all over in a second. This time it was more like a slow scan, almost like they were making sure everyone saw they were peeking, but then I wondered if something else was going on.

I've seen different styles before, especially with new dealers or in different parts of the country, but this one just didn't fit the usual rhythm. It kind of threw off the flow and made me feel a little less stable at the table, if you know what I mean. Curious if anyone else has run into a dealer peeking like that, or maybe has an idea why they'd switch it up from the normal way.

maybe they were new, sure, but that slow peek would bug me too. blackjack is rhythm, and when a dealer turns one tiny check into a little stage play it throws the whole table off. same reason i hate sloppy mic checks at work. in live dealer especially, if i can notice the peek more than the cards, something's off. stay grounded when you're running good, but that would annoy me.
