Hit 12 vs 3?

so i was grinding a session last night and had this annoying run of 12 vs dealer 3 hands. every time, i got that little voice in my head second-guessing whether to stick or take the hit. i know basic strategy says hit but the idea of busting on a low card still feels rough in the moment, especially when i’m up a bit. some folks at the table were standing and swearing by it, too, claiming long-term they see better outcomes.

does anyone here actually switch it up depending on their stack or vibes at the table, or do you stick with hitting no matter what?
